It's a reasonable comment, though, seeing as Britain used to own Hong Kong, and apparently it used to be allowed to participate in the Cmmonwealth Games.
yes it was part of the empire but then it became part of China. If it had retained independence that would make sense... but since it was absorbed into another country, it would be quite strange. I don't think there are any territories in the Commonwealth that are parts of other countries that are, themselves, not in the Commonwealth.
I don;t think it really does matter where youre from, in regards to your score, since they were on all the continents (only s. america is not included in this quiz, because Guyana doesnt have any cities big enough)
We should see more type-ins like that, if people write 'Dar', we can be pretty sure they mean Daressalaam. Maybe QM should just shorten the timers and make us type less.
Great quiz, but it should be titled 'biggest cities in the Commonwealth of Nations', the adjective 'British' was dropped from the official title decades ago...
Great quiz, though I kept forgetting I was going for Commonwealth cities as opposed to British Empire cities (I came to this directly from the Spanish Empire cities quiz). I also awkwardly forgot that Canada was a thing.
Shouldn't New York City be on here? The United States was part of the British Empire, right? Or is it just that the British Empire did not own the whole United States?
Got 20 but I feel so stupid I forgot Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Ahmedabad, those were so easy, can't believe my mind just erased them lmfao. The others, never heard them in my life
Exactly. According to citypopulation.de it also says in 2020, it says 4 mil in 2020 and most other sites like https://tradingeconomics.com/singapore/population#:~:text=Population%20in%20Singapore%20is%20expected,according%20to%20our%20econometric%20models. says it is 5.82 mil
Pakistan is a bit of a unique case. They've been suspended twice from the Commonwealth. Generally don't have great relations with other Commonwealth countries either, the South Asian ones at least.
Is there a reason why some countries don't join the Commonwealth? There a lot of countries in the British Empire that aren't part of the Commonwealth, especially in the Middle East--Egypt, the UAE, Sudan and Iraq were all ruled by Britain at some point. If they're letting Rwanda in, I don't see why they wouldn't let these countries in, so there must be a deliberate reason why they haven't joined.
Good quiz.
