I could only think of Studio 54, and I don't even know if that's an actual club or not. But I think Andy Warhol used to hang at a place named that...I don't know.
Given your name, I'm surprised you don't know Studio 54 was a disco club, not a punk club like CBGB...which, oddly enough, stands for Country, Bluegrass, Blues.
Every year the comment section is littered with the same comment over and over, "Too American", "There are other countries in the world besides America", "To US centered". There are British bands on the quiz, Australian, questions stemming from Japan, there is also the option of making your own quiz and you can ignore anything American when you make it.
Hey, I was kind. At least all of these are famous. I don't think that many remember that Weird Al guy in Europe, but it's easy to guess that it's about Madonna. I would have avoided that awful Bobby McFerrin song though... To remain american, I would clearly have chosen the Pixies for 88.
Tried to make a "Non-US Music by Year" quiz and gave up. 1 for both Japan and the Netherlands (CD), something about ABBA for Sweden, 1 for Germany (99 Luftballons), 2 or 3 for France. Some of them in the same year. Of course one could make the rest about the UK, but that should provoke a "it's too English-language centric" comment.
It is "LicenseD to Ill," as a minor correction. This really brings into perspective how quickly the music scene moved, going from the breakup of the Beatles to the breakup of NWA in 19 years. 19 years ago from today doesn't feel THAT different...
I was thinking the same thing. The 2010's, musically, were not that distinguishable from the 2000's. The 2000's were fairly distinguishable from the 1990's. The 1990's were quite different from the 1980's, and the 1980's were night and day different from the 1970's.
Hush is great. It's more psychedelic, but also a bop. It's funny that Deep Purple was widely considered a one-hit wonder because of that late 60s hit, but Smoke on the Water became an even bigger hit and now some think they're a one-hit wonder for that song!
