No, the Quizmaster is just being proactive. Once MLS dies due to lack of interest, he would then have to go back and remake the quiz without it. This way just saves him some time down the road. Then again, after reading some of the comments above, hockey doesn't seem to get a lot of love, either. Maybe it should go, too!
MLS isn't dying. There were over twenty-six million people watching last year, a four percent increase from 2016. Meanwhile, the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL are all either down or saw very little change. MLS is, in fact, likely to make its way on to this list soon, and hence, the really proactive decision would be to add it on already.
I think it's more because it's not really a major league. It doesn't have the talent level of other soccer/football leagues and is, in almost every way, a minor league.
MLS just isn't on the same level as big-time sports like (american if your overly specific) football, baseball, and hockey. Soccer is more of a sport that's used internationally, which is where it gains popularity. In america its not very big.
I'm trying to figure out how the New York Giants can be 90% guessed correctly but the San Francisco Giants are only 89%. If you type in "Giants" that covers them both. Do some people actually type in the full names, including cities?
At current rates sometime between 2030 and never. Until the MLS can attract actual world class talent it's just a minor league. Also, what you even type? United, FC, Real? What kind of dumb teams names are those? D.C. United? There were never two DC teams. Real Salt Lake? Was it sponsored by the King of Spain or something? It's aping the European leagues without any history or context.
If I could have an extra minute I could get 100% every time. It's pretty rushed at 123 answers (4.88 seconds per answer; I usually give people 5 or 6), and we're adding another hockey team in Seattle. Maybe up it to 12:00?
The Washington Football Team has officially left the previous Redskins name. I understand if "Redskins" is still to be accepted since it happened quite recently. Please change the answer to "Washington Football Team" as well as accept "Washington Football", "Washington Football Team", and possibly other variations as you see fit.
Why is Quizmaster still not acknowledging that the MLS has more average attendance than both NBA and NHL?
If you wanted to make a quiz with only the so-called "big four", then make that instead of a quiz about big North American teams, because like it or not, the MLS is is a big North American sports league.
Comparing attendance between a sport played in outdoor stadiums vs. two sports played in indoor arenas is not a fair comparison. Revenue is the most relevant stat to estimate total interest people have in a league, and MLS's revenue is less than a quarter of that of the NHL (which is in turn has only 60% of the revenue of the NBA).
Aren't the Indians the Guardians now? Also if the MLS isn't going to be added it should probably be clarified that "Major League" is referring to the MLB and not the MLS.
I'm sure this quiz will be reset at some point in the next year or two (Washington Football Team could be the earliest cause of that), so I just want to leave a note to my future self that I was able to get a perfect score today.
The CFL (Canadian Football League) should be on this quiz, its a professional league in North America, so there is no reason why it shouldn't be on here. Its very popular in Canada (obviously) and some americans also watch it.
I got 86, I'm from Switzerland so I got all the NHL Teams, almost all NBA Teams and not many people here care about Football or Baseball and neither do I..
(It's not like I looked at the comments and saw what people missed so I could put them in as another team or anything)..........

GO EAGLES!!!!
I could name a lot more CFL teams than I could basketball teams, and no, I've never been to Canada (or the USA). Go Tigercats.
Maybe we'll make it past the fisrt round next season (:
But don't worry, I remembered you all.
