Didn't do too well here, but at least I got Monkey Gone to Heaven, which I will give myself a pat on the back for. Great song, by the way. If you don't know it, you should give it a listen.
My jaw dropped when I saw only 13% got Pixies. One of the greatest bands of all time in my opinion, but also one of the most influential, and that part is fact.
I never heard Europe (the band). And did not ever hear the name of the Proclaimers, though I've loved the song for years. Thanks for reminding me of some great music. As great as the 60s and 70s were, the 80s had such innovative bands and singers there was always a great new song (esp to dance to) every few days. So many different styles and so accessible. And then the bands and artists from the previous 2 decades all went on tour and did charity concerts in L.A., so there was that too. Best decade for constant music. Sometimes I think the music died now (it's so packaged and auto-tuned), till I hear White Buffalo, Joshua James, Tarbox Ramblers and a few others.
I got all but Monkeys Gone to Heaven...and I know the song, just never knew what it was called. I saw the Pixies (can't remember who they opened for), and I still missed it.
I was so psyched to see the Pixies referenced! But not surprised recognition was low. They were awesome, but not very commercial. I think that was on purpose.
I got all but the Proclaimers. I could hear the song in my head but had no idea who performed it.
I'm going to put in my headphones now and sooth away my pain...
