A topological map is a type of diagram that has been simplified so that only vital information, such as borders, remains and unnecessary detail, such as size and shape, has been removed.
Fill in this map of Africa by correctly guessing each highlighted country.
This is an *amazing* quiz. But why *WHY* did you have to make us scroll and find the answers instead of writing them ourselves. This single problem ruins the whole series for me.
I can see why this format can be annoying but you can also use the keyboard shortcuts in the caveat to avoid having to scroll so much!
I used this format mainly to prevent people from continually guessing the answer until they get it correct. That would kind of ruin the point of the quiz, which is to see how well you know geography based solely on borders.
Maybe I'll make a different version where you can type the answers in the future. Thanks!
These are just the right amount of challenge for people who think they know their geography. Sometimes I feel like this site is making me go mental because I'll be like "I can't wait until they make a topology quiz of all the first-level subdivisions of West Asia!" and then I'm like hmm maybe I should go touch grass
@zwerth66. There seems to be a technical problem when I'm playing on my phone (Android). Various black shapes appear, changing with the selected country, which obscure the map. I'm guessing this is some of the inner workings necessary to get the quiz to work, but makes it very confusing to work out which the actual countries/borders are. These odd black shapes don't show when I played on laptop device, so is this bug fixable for phones too, please?
Unfortunately, I have little control over how the quiz appears on mobile phones. I tried the quiz on my phone (iPhone) and a friend's phone (Android) and both appeared to work fine, so I'm not sure what's happening on your end. But hopefully you're still able to enjoy the quiz on a computer :)
I understand the concept, but my poor brain just can't get past the relative sizing. One half is sure that the space touching Eritrea and Djibouti is Ethiopia, the other half keeps saying "it can't be, that space is too small!"

Still generally a good quiz.

So much fun and really makes you think!
The very first time I tried one of your topological quizzes I think I only got a few right because I was so confused.
Takes practice getting used to it, but once I understood I loved it!
Fortunately, that's like 5 countries
