Nice idea ! However, in 13 minutes we have too much time, I can literally name 2 times every country of the world, so then the quiz lose all his interest...

Could you do something about that ? :)

Naming all countries of the world is different to thinking which country starts with S and contains a B. Etc..

Also it's way too hard if the time comes down a lot. I don't think the time takes away from the spirit of this quiz. It's a mental challenge not a sprint.

True, but nothing force players to think like this...

In my opinion, shorting this quiz should be better (even if it means that players couldn't finish completely the quiz : it would obligate them to think about the best way to make alot of points), but it's your concept after all ^^

Like you, I could probably get 100% if I tried to name all the countries in a logical order however I tried to play this quiz as Stewart intended and I couldn't finish it! So I will have to try again. Thats more fun.

Suggestion: give yourself constraints. For example, what is the optimal solution in terms of character strokes? You could also solve the puzzle in strict alphabetical order, making sure that you don't leave any gaps as you go -- AA AB AD AE AF ... ZW. Then you could do it in reverse: ZW ... AA (different optimizations!).

I typed ‘ROC’ and just expected it to cover Republic Of Congo’s squares, so when I was left with a load of “R” squares at the end I was second-guessing myself for ages… now I realise ‘ROC’ gets you Taiwan

I believe this is not consistent across all pairings, and if it was one might as well x them all out? Will double check after posting this. In any case, seems more fun to have it be a requirement that the second letter is included *after* the initial instance.

Edit: looks like it is consistent; just faked myself out. But yeah, suggest it be such that Barbados is the only solution for Bb, etc

It is definitely consistent. And it won't change either. Because otherwise when you type a word, for example IRAN, you only get credit for 3 letter which does not make sense.

interesting. not sure exactly what you mean by getting 'credit'.

i mean, a version of this game could certainly be created where you would be required to find A..a.. B..b.. etc countries in order to get a full score. (don't know about in jetpunk as I've never looked at creating puzzles in here, but i could definitely code one myself in some other context)

Are you saying it is not possible in jetpunk due to the way the system is set up?

hope this doesn't seem pushy or argumentative, i'm just curious. excellent puzzle, as i already said.

Oh sorry, what I meant was I wouldn't change this quiz to accommodate it. But yes a different version could be created with different requirements. There's be no limitation against it

I think the optimal character count for completing this puzzle is 789.

(or 792 if you have to go strictly one-column-at-a-time, i.e. without using any sequences of characters that satisfy entries for more than one initial letter)

make that 771 / 774 when using all currently available shorthand possibilities, like for example 'fsm' instead of 'micronesia'
