According to Wikipedia, Albania had 117 intentional homicides in 2014. Is it likely that a county with 117 intentional homicides only has 46 other crimes?
Well, these figures are from 2013 and the top ten tallies with a number of other sites, except for their inclusion of Hong Kong, which of course isn't a country. Some of the results did take me by surprise, though, Albania being one of them. This is only reported crimes. Maybe we can guess that a lot of crimes go unreported there?
Yes, that surprised me too. But the source website doesn't give any indication suggesting otherwise... I'm guessing that the number of crimes committed in these countries would have been considerably higher and the anomaly may come from quirks in the system of "reporting" of the crimes.
funnily enough per million would result in fewer crimes in Bhutan, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Montenegro while making little difference in Estonia and Cyprus
I think the main word in this quiz is "REPORTED".........In some places it doesn't pay to report a crime, it depends on the trustworthiness of the police force, lawyers, judges etc. etc. Sometimes it does not pay to be the bringer of bad news or in some cases to be a 'grass' or 'whistleblower'.
