Empires that share names with Modern Day Countries.
For Example, If their was a nation called Pooptopia, then what this quiz would count is if it was called the Pooptopia empire. No other forms are accepted. No Pooptopia Reich, has to be empire.
Be it Official or Semi-Official Empires.
Their are Technical ones I still Included. Either by name or Empire status.
That would make sense in some cases. But, some countries Preceded the Empires. So, I am changing it to "Empires that share names with Modern Day Countries."
I'm a bit confused about the asterisks? Like, can you explain what you mean by a "technical" empire? If you're referring to empires that still technically exist, I really don't see why Haiti or Poland or Oman would be on here. From what I know, those countries are not particularly large or powerful or diverse. On the other hand, France still owns many overseas possessions (including French Polynesia which is very big), so I'd say it's still an empire. Or am I misunderstanding the meaning of the asterisks? I'd just appreciate a bit more explanation.
Haiti, Poland, and Oman used to have empires. Muscati empires, Poland Lithuanian derivatives, and the Haitian empire existed. Asterisks for Oman and Poland were name related while in Haiti it was very short lived and disputed about it's rule. This is a historical quiz and not a current one as well, France is also on here.
It's prevalence in the historical debate is serious enough for me to consider it, and as you suggested it's behavior is very Empire like, I have no doubt that there will be large periods of US history referred to as "Imperial" in a few decades.
