The ruler tool on Google Earth seems to be telling me that there are points in Greenland and points in Luxembourg that are less than 1660 miles apart. This means that Luxembourg should push Belarus out of the rankings.
On the contrary, many do! The Faroe Islands have a similar relationship of free association to Denmark to that which Marshall Islands, Palau and Federated States of Micronesia (which I think we all agree are countries) have with the United States. See here for more information.
It's not a region! It's a country. To be exact, it's a constituent country, alongside the countries of Denmark and Faroe Islands, in the Kingdom of Denmark. (Yes, there's a Kingdom of Denmark, and a Country of Denmark, and they are different entities)
Why are you accepting Holland for the name of the country of the Netherlands? - Would you accept New York or California as substitutes for the USA? - I think not!
In Denmark we call it Holland, not netherlands, when growing up i was told that netherlands is the english name for it and that Holland was the danish name. I am from Greenland
Russia's already here, with a much shorter distance than to the Baltic countries, because its nearest point to Greenland is much further north, near its border with Norway and Finland.
