Then it would show more flags to narrow the answer to one of the countries you're giving as answers. Countries that Monaco borders: only the flag of France and no other.
In case Saint Martin (France) it is the same for France as Ceuta and Melilla. But in case Sint Maarten (Netherlands part) It isn't, Sint Maarten is almost the same for The Netherlands as Wales for UK. Saint Martin is in France, Sint Maarten isn't in The Netherlands, it is in the kingdom of the Netherlands.
Conclusion: The quiz is right and Netherlands should not be added.
Agreed. The Netherlands was the first country to come to mind, as it borders all three of those and only them. That would be like saying that the UK and Ireland don't border because England doesn't border Ireland.
I think the first one puts you in an easy situation, Spain doesn't have many borders, so you only have to try a few before you get it. Then you just look at the instructions and think of why that country would be the one that is correct as opposed to the others.
I've never worked on committing all of them to memory. I'm still struggling with world capitals, but every time I take a quiz like this I remember a few more. I suppose anything that fills in the ever-widening holes in my brain is a good thing.
I have an issue with the Indonesia flag. It looks identical to the Monaco flag. Normally it wouldn't be a problem, but in this case, France would actually be an acceptable answer here as it meets the criteria and the flags of Indonesia and Monaco look identical.
A fair point on the annoyingly identical flags, but no country ONLY borders Monaco (like how PNG and ET only border Indonesia) so it doesn't really affect the acceptable answers.
i.e. if that were Monaco, you'd also need Germany, Switzerland, Italy, etc. to get France as an answer.
But Netherlands borders also Germany and Belgium. The idea is very simple (and great) : looking for country X. Showing the flags of every country X borders. So if there's only the flag of France, the answer is a country that has a border with France only -> Monaco.
I'm surprised for only 45% people guess Dominican Republic because it share the island of Hyspaniola with Haiti. For this, I think is know more the flag of Dominican Republic than the flag of Haiti.
May not be lack of knowledge ... I did all the ones I knew first then went back - would have work it out had the time not run out. Aaah well. I like these quizzes. Simple concept but difficult to think quickly.
It also borders Poland & Belarus. There's a few here which border multiple countries, but the quiz shows the flags of all countries which border the answer country, rather than some of.
For the one with: Germany, Belgium and France, Netherlands should also be able, because of martenique in the carribean where France and the Netherlands share a border. Great quiz! :)
Being very nitpicky, but you could say that the Netherlands borders Germany, Belgium, and France because of Saint Martin. Nowhere does it say overseas territories are excluded, and Ceuta and Melilla are counted for the Morocco question.
Given the confusion in several of these comments, maybe tweak the instructions to say something like it's the flags of ALL the countries that have borders with the answer?
I'm pretty sure the flag for Indonesia here is the flag of Monaco. I might be wrong but I think that the red in Indonesia's flag is more vibrant and less square-ish (2:3)
and italy is also boarding france, switzerland, austria, and slovenia not only vatican city and san marino
Conclusion: The quiz is right and Netherlands should not be added.
i.e. if that were Monaco, you'd also need Germany, Switzerland, Italy, etc. to get France as an answer.
For that one Netherlands would be a correct answer as there is nowhere stated that overseas territories are excluded from this.
Very good and interesting quiz!
