Yep. Yangtze is Blue river, but it is not really used that much. For some reason, Yangtze made it's way into english, while Huang He didn't. I would like to know why, actually.
I suspect it might be to do with “Yangtze” (扬子, Yángzǐ) is more pronounceable by English-speaking people than Huang He (黃河, Huáng Hé), given the difficulty of accurately creating the Mandarin “h” sound (it’s like the “ch” of “loch”, but at the start rather than the end).
Not used to the PRC acronym, i thought it was about North Korea (People's Republic of Corea, since it's spelled with a C in French)... which was way more tough.
