Indonesian and Malay are the same language. I studied it at school, have visited both countries, and the language appeared the same to me in both countries. I understand there are tiny differences that make them about as different to each other as American English is to British English. .
We Malaysians, Singaporeans, and Bruneians, are with no problem with that. But someone ultra-nationalist in Indonesia really wanted to separate Indonesian and Malay language otherwise it comes from the same origin.
Yeah...I agree. As a person in Singapore, Malay and Indonesian have been spoken here. And even if i don't hear Indonesian at all sometimes, I barely hear it, but I read up that Malay is almost the same as Indonesian.
