Inspiration
I got the idea for this blog by reflecting over my past on JetPunk. I started my humble beginnings many, many years ago. As of next month (June 11 to be exact), I will have been on JetPunk for 12 years. I wasn't really active on JetPunk for the first 6 of those 12 years, but I distinctly remember at various points thinking about how JetPunkers were more "famous" on JetPunk. And I thought about how I would never be the type of user that was well known on JetPunk, and I was okay with this. I just wanted to be known to few as the guy who made Catholic-related quizzes on JetPunk, and this coincides with when I changed my name to cathlete. I believe since then my presence on JetPunk has grown significantly, though certainly not to the same level as some of the other mammoths of JetPunk (e.g., Stewart for his work with the site, baptistegorce for his interviews and presence on the French section, overtired for his css work, to just name a few).
This reflection made me think about how my JetPunk journey has developed and how I've developed a different reputation than I would have guessed. If I had to take a guess, when a JetPunker hears my name, they would probably either think of my mathematics blogs or my presence on the Spanish section. So what about the many other users who are out there trying to enjoy their JetPunk experience. Will one of them end up becoming well-known for some niche aspect of JetPunk?
This inspired me to create this blog, in which I mention several JetPunk users, of whom I suspect the average reader of this blog has not heard, that I believe deserve some recognition for one reason or another.
mikkelkahnwald - 10k+ Quizzes in Under 2 Years
The first user I want to mention is mikkelkahnwald. As the title I chose to give this user suggests, mikkel has created nearly 10,600 quizzes as of the writing of this blog. To my knowledge, that's more than any other JetPunk user, including the famous Jerry aka TenThousand aka Kymmenentuhatta aka DixMille aka TenThousand in every language imaginable. To make all this even more crazy, mikkel has managed to do this in what appears to be less than 16 months. I'm not sure if some type of voodoo JetPunk magic was used, but to my knowledge, there's a limit of publishing 15 quizzes in any 24 hour time period. So how exactly did mikkelkahnwald manage to publish an average of over 20 quizzes per day for the last year and a half? I'm not sure.
ValenceElectron - Science & Star Wars
If Valence had to be known for something, it would be both Science and Star Wars. Currently, Valence's most taken quiz is Star Wars: All Named Clones. There are various versions of this quiz, but I only know of one that is up-to-date through the final season of the Bad Batch, and that is this quiz. I'm also a big fan of Label the fins on Jeppy. This is a great example of an original JetPunk quiz.
hugopernia - City Quizzes
My familiarity with the Spanish section is definitely going to leak through a bit on this selection, but I've been a big fan of hugopernia's quizzes for quite some time. I enjoy taking hugo's various city quizzes which translate city names into other languages. It's a great balance between knowledge of cities and knowledge of language. This series as a whole are great examples of this balance that I enjoy.
CardinalSin - Commenter, not Quizmaker
I don't remember exactly who was the first user to comment on one of my quizzes, but if I had to take the best guess I could, I would say it's CardinalSin. I've also come to learn that this user has been the first to comment on many other users' quizzes as well. It's always nice to see that people are taking your quizzes and giving recommendations or praises! CardinalSin has been a great example of this.
clown666w - Taylor Swift
Not only does this user have nothing but Taylor Swift quizzes (each having tens if not hundreds of thousands of takes), but this user is also the highest ranking user on JetPunk to not have a featured quiz. User clown666w is currently ranked 60th with nearly 1 million takes. So if you were wondering why there have been several Taylor Swift featured quizzes (as I have wondered), then perhaps the popularity of clown666w is the answer to why Taylor Swift deserves to be featured on JetPunk.
Have you heard of any of these users?
Do you know of any other lesser-known users who deserve some recognition?
Thanks!
Nice blog :)
I knew them all but I learnt some interesting details about some of them. Definitely an interesting reading.
And thanks for the mention!
